The Santa Blog

Ho, ho, ho! Or should I just say “hey?” Dave here, leaving the Santa behind for this. I’m probably about 20 years too late for this. I don’t even know if people read anymore. Audiobooks, TikTok, YouTube. But hey, I’m doing this. Maybe folks will read it. Maybe they won’t. Either way, the Santa Blog is here.
I’m going to write some of these throughout the offseason while Mr. Claus is back at the North Pole. Part of this is to reflect on the past Christmas season. Some of it is to educate on what you can do to have the best Santa experience possible, with me or other Santas. And some of it will just be a peek behind the curtain at what is involved with being Santa. I have a few starter ideas lined up, but don’t expect a regular schedule here. This is my website and my blog, so I’ll drop them as I write them, and whenever I feel like it.
This first entry in the Santa Blog is really just to lay the groundwork for what the blog will be, but also to set some ground rules. First, as mentioned above, this is Dave, not Santa Dave, speaking. The beard isn’t white, the suit is at the cleaners, and you’re just getting the man behind the magic sharing his thoughts. If you follow me on social, pretend this whole thing has a “behind the magic” banner on the front of it. I try to keep my socials a little bit more in character, but the website is a little bit more of a free space. Folks are coming here to hire me, so hopefully we’re not ruining any of the magic by having it here. And if we do, well maybe you should supervise the little ones on the internet a bit better.
What does all that mean? Well, kinda just what I said above. I might call parents/guardians out a bit. I’ll definitely give props too. In the right circumstances, I’m planning on having some fun with this. So there will be humor and sarcasm, and some of the honesty I would never do once the red suit is on. I’m going to hit topics like: why the whole family shouldn’t be trying to get the baby’s attention; maybe when your kid is meeting Santa isn’t the best time to announce your pregnancy; why you’re waiting in line so long; what goes into being Santa; and much more. Hopefully you’ll learn something that will make your visits with Santa better. If not, I’m sure I’ll learn something I didn’t see in the moment or view something in a different light while I’m not in the chair.
So let’s do this thing. Drive a little engagement while we’re in the times where we don’t think about Santa. Keep the creative juices flowing. Maybe get you thinking about your visit before it’s December 18th and you’re just now calling me to try and book my services for Saturday, when my schedule’s been booked since October. Just kidding, but not really — you’d be shocked at how many of those I get. But I’ll save that for a later blog.
Hopefully you’ll read along. And as they say in the YouTube biz, like, comment, and subscribe. Or, ya know, just read at your leisure.
